The Neighborhood Sports Showdown is sports entertainment and educational programming delivered by video, television, radio, satellite and the internet which showcases underrepresented community based sports. The television program highlights a variety of athletic contests and community achievements from youth sports to visually impaired athletics. The program was a recipient of the second annual PhillyCAM Impact Award in 2012 and The Philadelphia Police and Firefighters Promotional Award in 2014.
The Neighborhood Sports Showdown airs on PhillyCAM Comcast 66/966, Verizon 29/30, and http://.phillycam.org/web-channel on Saturdays at 10:30 am. PhillyCAM is the non-profit designated by the City of Philadelphia to operate its public access television network. To learn more about PhillyCAM visit www.phillycam.org.
The show was designed as a vehicle to deliver a much needed community service. All crew members are volunteers who have a passion for sports, videography, and commentary. Each volunteer dedicates a portion of their personal time to travel to neighborhoods for each production. Donations have given the 76 West Sports crew members a small travel budget. The show would not exist if it were not for donations and volunteers.
